The All India senior selection committee, on Wednesday (December 8), announced their decision of naming Rohit Sharma as India’s ODI skipper, replacing Virat Kohli, who had only recently relinquished T20I captaincy following the team’s premature exit in the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Virat Kohli ignoring selectors and BCCI’s calls for the last few days – Report
India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli hasn’t reached the team’s hotel in Mumbai. All the players should start three-day quarantine ahead of their scheduled departure for Johannesburg on December 16. He has been ignoring selectors and BCCI’s calls for the last few days, according to InsideSport.
On Sunday, the players underwent a short camp in Mumbai, but the skipper was missing.
“Virat was obviously informed. But he hasn’t joined the camp. We expect him to join tomorrow. The players will enter a three-day bio-bubble before travelling to Johannesburg,” a senior BCCI official told on Sunday.
The official dismissed the allegation when he was asked about Virat ignoring their calls.
“Why should a player ignore our calls. He is a professional cricketer and will join shortly. But of course, he should have returned the calls,” the official told.
Virat hasn’t congratulated Rohit Sharma on his appointment as India’s new ODI skipper.

Virat Kohli Sacked: Angry Kohli keeps phone switched off – Virat Kohli is clearly unhappy with BCCI’s move to remove him as the ODI skipper and install Rohit Sharma. Sharma also slammed president Sourav Ganguly and BCCI for their lack of transparency.
Virat Kohli Refused to Step Down as India ODI Captain? Here’s the update
That one of the most successful ODI captains of India was removed with just 48 hours notice should tell you why Kohli might feel betrayed. Since the announcement, Virat Kohli hasn’t posted anything on his social media platforms not even a single word congratulatory message for Rohit Sharma.
“I haven’t talked to him (Virat Kohli) yet. His phone is switched off for some reason. But as far as my opinion is concerned, he had specifically stepped down from T20 captaincy and the selectors should’ve straightaway asked him to step down from both the white-ball formats or not step down at all,” Rajkumar Sharma said on Khelneeti podcast.
Earlier, BCCI has gave Virat Kohli 48-hour ultimatum to step down voluntarily. They believe having two white-ball captains could complicate situations even though India’s women’s team has two white-ball skippers.
