MHA Promotes SJM Gilani to DGP Rank

Srinagar, December 12: The Government of India has promoted Syed Javiad Mujtaba Gilani, a senior IPS officer, to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP). The promotion, approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), places him at Level 16 of the pay matrix, effective from the date he assumes charge.

An officer of the 1994 AGMUT cadre, Gilani hails from Kashmir and has held several significant and challenging positions in Jammu and Kashmir. These include serving as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Director of Vigilance, and being on deputation with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The promotion recognizes his longstanding contributions to the police service and his notable achievements in various roles.
