J&K Police Arrest 7 Drug Peddlers in Awantipora, Baramulla, Kulgam, and Kupwara; Contraband Substances Recovered

December 12: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 07 drug peddlers in Awantipora, Baramulla, Kulgam & Kupwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora at a checkpoint at Dogripora intercepted a vehicle ECO bearing registration number JK05M-4630 with 02 persons onboard. During search, 1.680 Kgms of grinded cannabis was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Arif Ahmad son of Sona ullah War and Naseer Ahmad War son of Mohd Maqbool War both resident of Warpora Sopore. It is pertinent to mention here that from last five days, six drugs peddlers including a lady drug peddler have been arrested, two notorious drug peddlers were booked under PIT NDPS and one vehicle identified during investigation as illegal acquired property was seized by Police District Awantipora.

In Baramulla, a police party from Police Station Pattan, led by SHO Police Station Pattan, at a checkpoint established near Kalsari Pattan intercepted a bike (two-wheeler) without registration number ridden by 03 persons. They have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohammad resident of Pethgam Wagoora, Tahir Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Ahmad resident of Warpora Tangmarg and Nisar Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Rasool resident of Durhama Wagoora. During search, 90 grams of contraband Charas was recovered from their possession.

In Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Yaripora at a checkpoint established at Yaripora intercepted a vehicle (Auto) bearing registration number JK18D-4779 driven by Sajad Ahmad Khar son of Mohd Abdullah Khar resident of Kharpora. During search, 900 grams of Cannabis Powder recovered.

In Kupwara, a Police party of Police Station Kralpora at a checkpoint established at Guzriyal Reshigund Crossing, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan son of Lal Khan resident of Lone Harri Tangwari. During search, 20.09 grams of a charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

All the accused have been arrested and vehicles used in commission of crime have been seized. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
