Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam becomes first cricketer to achieve this feat in 146 years of Test cricket history
New Delhi: Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam has added a unique world record to his name during the ongoing single Test match between Bangladesh and Ireland at the Sher-E-Bangla stadium, Mirpur, Bangladesh. Taijul dismissed the Ireland batter, Peter Moor, in the ongoing Test and thus became the one and only bowler to dismiss the same batter representing two different countries in test cricket.
Born in Harare, the 32-year-old Peter Moor has previously represented Zimbabwe in international cricket. He got out on day one of the ongoing test match, handing a simple catch to Tamim Iqbal, who was standing at the mid-off position.

Earlier, Moor was dismissed on a golden duck by Taijul while playing for Zimbabwe during Zimbabwe’s tour of Bangladesh in 2018. The fact that makes this record more interesting is that Taijul Islam bagged a fifer in both of the test matches.
Interestingly, Islam got a fifer in both Tests. In the ongoing Test, the 31-year-old took five wickets for 58 runs to help hosts dismiss Ireland for 214 in the first innings on Day 1.

This was Islam’s 11th fifer in Test cricket. His fifer included Ireland skipper Andy Balbirnie, Curtis Campher, Moor, Lorcan Tucker and Mark Adair. Mushfiqur Rahim’s 126, Shakib’s 87 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 55 helped Bangladesh score 369 and take a 155-run lead.
In the second innings, he opened the bowling alongside skipper Shakib Al Hasan. He got the wickets of opener Murray Cummins and Balbirnie. Ireland are in deep trouble as they lost four wickets for 27 runs and still trail by 128 runs on a pitch that favours spinners.
