Petrol, Diesel shortage: Amid rumours of shortage of petrol and diesel in the country, oil market companies have clarified that fuel availability is absolutely normal at retail outlets and that there is no need to panic.
According to reports, rumours of fuel shortage surfaced during the weekend which soon led to long queues at fuel outlets, forcing many dealers to even close them due to the crowds getting out of control.
The situation went out of hand in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand where in capital cities of Jaipur and Dehradun respectively, the local petrol pump associations had to issue a clarification that there was no shortage of petrol and diesel.
Dehradun administration even initiated a probe in the matter and has warned of strict action against rumour mongers.
The panic forced Indian Oil to issue a clarification, with the retailer’s Director (Marketing) V Satish Kumar tweeting and said, “Dear Customers,This is to assure that product availability at our retail outlets is absolutely normal. There is adequate product availability & supplies to all markets. We request you not to panic. IndianOil is fully committed to serve at all times. (sic)”

Apparently the rumour was spread that Saudi Arabia has stopped crude oil supply to India, which led to the panic among people across states.
No Need To Panic: Div Com ‘Assures’ KCC&I On ‘Fuel Shortage’ In Kashmir
Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCC&I) on Thursday met Divisional Commissioner P K Pole and raised concern of fuel shortage in the Valley.
“As the panic triggered by ‘rumors’ of fuel shortage has forced people to line up near petrol and diesel stations, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCC&I) President, Sheikh Ashiq and General Secretary Farooq Amin, raised concern of fuel shortage with Divisional Commissioner, PK Pole, who assured that there is no shortage of fuel in Kashmir,” KCC&I said in a statement
KCC&I’s spokesperson said that the Divisional Commissioner listened to concerns of the delegation patiently and said that there is no need to panic as people can go to retail outlets of Indian oil corporation limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation limited and can refill fuel.
“He also said that by evening today, Hindustan Oil Corporation limited will also have sufficient stock of petrol and diesel and in future there will not be price rise in fuel,” the spokesperson said.
In a meeting, Divisional Commissioner assured and clarified that people are not going to face any problem regarding the availability of fuel. According to KCC&I spokesperson, he also advised people to purchase Petrol and Diesel as per need and don’t pay heed to rumors.
