Shopian Incident Police Version

Shopian: Today around 1800 Hours Joint naka was established at Keegam Chowk of Shopian Police, CRPF and 44 RR, a vehicle bearing Regd Number 2020-TR-266B approached the naka at high speed in which three militants namely Riyaz Ahmad Wagay S/o Sanaullah Wagay, Parvaiz Ahmed Wagay S/o Sanaullah Wagay R/o Nazneenpora and one unknown militant came at high speed in an Alto Number 2020-T/R-2664 B and lobbed a hand grenade which did not exploded and during the ruckus they snatched the weapon of HC Rayees Ahmad Mir.

Subsequently DySP concerned alongwith forces chased, apprehended Riyaz & Pervaiz and recovered the snatched weapons and besides this other arms and ammunition from mentioned persons have been recovered.

In this regard FIR no. 71/2020 has been registered in PS Shopian and investigation has been taken up.
