PCB makes last-minute change, brings in uncapped left-arm pacer as injured Haris Rauf’s replacement in Pakistan’s Squad
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced left-arm pacer Akif Javed as the replacement for injured Haris Rauf in the ongoing ODI tri-nation series at home. Rauf sustained an injury during Pakistan’s opening match against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and has been rested for the remainder of the tournament as a precautionary measure ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
“The replacement is only for the tri-nation ODI series, as Haris Rauf is expected to be fully fit and available for selection for the ICC Champions Trophy,” PCB stated in an official release.
Despite being added to the squad, Akif Javed will not play in the crucial virtual semifinal against South Africa on February 12 at National Stadium, Karachi, as Pakistan’s playing XI has already been confirmed. Fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain will take Rauf’s place in the lineup. However, if Pakistan secures a victory over South Africa, Javed could get a chance to feature in the final against New Zealand.
