Panic among staff:Woman after delivering baby tests positive at LD Hospital
Srinagar: Panic gripped in maternity hospital Lal Ded here in Srinagar this evening after a woman who delivered a baby was tested positive.
Hospital Administration asked security guards, some doctors and nurses to go for quarantine while there samples have been already taken.
Sources told that a pregnant woman (name withheld) wife of Javaid Ahmed, a resident of Achabal Anantnag was brought here in Lal Ded hospital during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Her samples were taken and she was admitted in BR1 Labour Room where already three patients on three beds were present.
Sources added that the woman delivered a child and shortly after the delivery her test for Covid-19 was declared positive. This news created panic in the hospital as a number of people especially medical staff had come in her contact.
An official at LD Hospital told that the 3 patients who were in the Labour Room along with the confirmed case have now been shifted to Ward number 117. “They have been isolated. At the same time we have quarantined 2 doctors and 8 nurses of the hospital,” he said adding that samples of all those who have been quarantined have been collected and reports are awaited.
The official further said that some security guards of the hospital have also been quarantined. In response to a question, the official admitted that the woman was brought in the hospital against the Covid-19 protocol, but added that they preferred to attend on her rather than leaving her at lurch.
He said the woman has been shifted to JVC SKIMS Bemina, that is a Covid-19 designated hospital.
Meanwhile, scores of employees including security guards have already been quarantined after the employee of the same hospital was tested positive yesterday.
Coordinator JVC SKIMS Bemina Dr Nouman Wani confirmed to Kashmir News Trust that they received a positive patient from LD Hospital who has been kept in an isolation ward. (KNT)
