Pakistan has surpassed Sri Lanka in the ICC World Test Championship points rankings. The Babar Azam-led team is in third place, with 58.33 percent of the vote.
Pakistan boosted their winning percentage to 58.33 percent, with only South Africa (71.43%) and Australia (70%) now ahead of the Asian side. It was the 4th victory of the World Test Championship cycle for Pakistan, who have now boosted their chances of reaching next year’s final.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have slumped from third to sixth position in the WTC points table. The islanders gained zero points from their defeat.
However, if Sri Lanka win the second Test, they will return to third position, pushing Pakistan down to fifth spot.
While India, who recently lost the rescheduled fifth Test match against England, are behind Pakistan at the fourth spot with 52 per cent.
We know how to play spin so we believed,” Azam said after the tense win.
“When I was batting with Abdullah Shafique we were just trying to build a partnership. He has shown his class.”
