Minimum Temperatures Recorded Today In Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh

The Kashmir Valley continues to reel under intense cold, with several areas experiencing sub-zero temperatures. The coldest place in the region was Zojila, recording a bone-chilling low of -22.0°C. Popular tourist destinations like Sonamarg and Gulmarg also faced freezing conditions at -8.4°C and -6.0°C, respectively.

In the plains, Srinagar, the summer capital, reported a minimum temperature of -3.0°C, while Anantnag and Pulwama shivered at -5.1°C and -5.6°C. Kupwara and Qazigund recorded -4.5°C and -4.4°C, respectively.
Notably, Shopian experienced severe cold at -6.8°C, while Bandipora and Ganderbal recorded relatively milder lows of -1.2°C. Other notable readings include Pahalgam (-1.8°C) and Budgam (-3.6°C).

Jammu Region

In the Jammu region, temperatures varied widely across the districts. The winter capital, Jammu, recorded a minimum temperature of 5.0°C, whereas Katra, a major pilgrimage site, saw 5.9°C. In the higher altitudes, Banihal reported -2.1°C, and Padder was among the coldest at -5.9°C.

Lower-lying areas like Samba experienced a brisk 0.1°C, while Udhampur recorded 0.8°C. Other areas, such as Rajouri and Batote, saw temperatures of 1.4°C and 1.5°C, respectively. Ramban, however, had a comparatively warmer night at 7.8°C.

Ladakh

The Union Territory of Ladakh remained in the grip of extreme cold. The capital Leh recorded a frigid -10.0°C, while Kargil registered -5.9°C. The notoriously cold town of Drass did not report its temperature today, but it is typically one of the coldest places in the region.

The ongoing winter season has brought frigid conditions across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, with several places reporting freezing or near-freezing temperatures. The coldest temperature of the day was recorded at Zojila Pass (-22.0°C), highlighting the harshness of the Himalayan winter.
