Death of 2 pregnant ladies: Court directs Police to hold inquiry and book delinquent officials if any
Srinagar: A local court has ordered the probe into the deaths of two pregnant ladies in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Pertinently, two pregnant ladies died in Anantnag hospital so for. Families of the deceased women accused hospital administration of negligence.
Principal, District and Sessions Judge, Monday directed authorities to hold an inquiry into these two deaths in the district. “I direct SSP Anantnag to hold and enquiry into these deaths. The SSP Anantnag shall either hold an enquiry himself or by any other officer but not below the rank of SP,” the court said.
It according to KNT said the enquiry shall be concluded within a period of 15 days and if the report of the enquiry finds that there is a case of medical negligence, then those responsible for these deaths must be brought to book and the action as warranted under law may be initiated against any delinquent official. The SSP Anantnag shall also submit periodical report to this authority,” the court observed.
Earlier, the court said that it to know through a video which has gone viral and also by some responsible citizens that a pregnant lady was being ferried on a trolley by her relatives through the streets of Anantnag obviously for not having been provided an ambulance by the hospital authorities and not admitted in the hospital to deliver. The said lady was probably allowed to die on road with authorities showing no compassion.
“This is not the only case but earlier as well, a pregnant lady had come to Bijbehara hospital to deliver a child but was not attended as a result of which she along with her twins died in the hospital.” (KNT)
