J&K Government Forms Committee for PM-eBus Sewa Scheme Implementation

Jammu & Kashmir, March 11, 2025: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has sanctioned the formation of a Union Territory Level Steering Committee (UTLSC) to oversee the implementation of the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme in the region. This initiative, under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, aims to enhance urban mobility with electric buses.

Committee Structure & Members

The committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of J&K and will include:

  1. Administrative Secretaries of Power Development, Finance, Housing & Urban Development, and Transport Departments
  2. Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu
  3. CEOs of Srinagar and Jammu Smart City Ltd.
  4. Any other co-opted members as decided by the Chairman

Role & Responsibilities

The UTLSC will function as per the guidelines set by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs to ensure the smooth execution of the electric bus service in urban areas. The initiative is expected to boost eco-friendly public transportation, reduce pollution, and improve mobility for citizens.

This decision marks a significant step toward sustainable urban transport in Jammu and Kashmir.
