Babar Azam thumped 85 from 49 balls and Mohammad Rizwan made 63 from 41 in an opening stand of 150 to set the tourists on their way to victory and Shaheen Afridi took 3-30 to put Pakistan 1-0 up in the three-match series. Fakhar Zaman (26 off 8) and Mohammad Hafeez (24 off 10) constructed a 46-run partnership off just 16 deliveries to guide Pakistan to their record total.
Morgan won the toss and chose to bowl first but the move backfired as Pakistan capitalised on the short boundaries, smashing 20 fours and 12 sixes to post 232-6 — their highest total in T20 internationals.
Meanwhile, Pakistan were completely outplayed in all aspects of the game by a second-string England team in the ODIs. However, it’s a different ball when it comes to the T20 format. They are a well-balanced unit and will be all set for the 3-match T20I series.
