Will CBSE, CISCE Term 2 Exams Be Cancelled? | Check Here

The Supreme Court of India hear a plea on today (Wednesday) February 23 on seeking cancellation of class 10, 12 offline board exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and several other boards this year.

The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the petition seeking the cancelation of board exams. The petition has sought an alternative mode of assessment. The Court said, “such petitions give false hopes to students.” The court was hearing a plea seeking cancelation of term 2 board exams by CBSE, CISCE, and NIOS boards. The petition sought the cancelation of offline exams amid the covid-19 pandemic.

Supreme court said, authorities will take decision on exams. The bench said they are not going to pass any order and asked what kind of PIL is this. The bench further said, “This has to stop. Don’t come up again or there will be exemplary costs. Let students & authorities do their job. You can’t PIL like this. Whoever has filed we’re saying for that petitioner.”

We will not issue any directions, said the Supreme Court while dismissing the petition. “There are rules regulations in place and authorities are working. This plea is ill-advised and premature. Authorities are yet to decide the rules and dates. If the decision is not in consonance with rules then it is open to challenge,” said the Court.
