Weather Advisory From January 1 to 6 in J&K

The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has issued a detailed weather forecast for Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting two western disturbances (WD) expected to impact the region in early January.

31st December

  • The day will remain mostly cloudy, with light snowfall anticipated at isolated higher altitudes.

1st to 2nd January

  • A feeble WD will bring cloudy skies with light snowfall at scattered locations. This activity is expected to occur from the evening of January 1 to the morning of January 2.

3rd to 6th Januar

  • A more significant WD is set to affect the region during this period, bringing widespread weather changes.
  • Expect light to moderate snowfall across most areas of J&K, with rain in the plains of Jammu.
  • The peak intensity of this weather system is predicted between the afternoon of January 4 and January 6.

7th to 10th January

  • The region will likely experience dry weather with partly cloudy skies.

Advisory for Travelers

Due to expected snowfall, sub-zero temperatures, and icy road conditions, travelers, tourists, and transport operators are urged to plan their journeys accordingly. Authorities and traffic advisories should be strictly followed to ensure safety.
Notably, heavy snowfall is possible in isolated higher reaches, particularly on January 4 and 5.

Residents and visitors should remain cautious during this period and prepare for potential disruptions in travel and daily activities.
