Watch Video: World’s Largest Plane, Made In Ukraine AN-225 ‘Mriya’, Destroyed by Russian Troops
The largest aircraft in the world was destroyed today by Russian troops battling on an airfield near Kyiv, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said, as Moscow continued its assault on its neighbour.
AN-225 ‘Mriya’ — meaning ‘Dream’ in Ukrainian — was manufactured by Ukrainian aeronautics company Antonov, and qualified as the world’s largest cargo aircraft, before it was reportedly burned at Hostomel Airport outside Kyiv due to Russian shelling.
As a result of an air attack by Russian troops on the Gostomel airport near Kyiv, one of the largest and most powerful Ukrainian-made AN-225 “MRIYA” aircraft in the world was burned, tweeted KyivPost from their official Twitter handle.

The Ukrainian-made Antonov-225 Mriya, was burnt in a Russian attack on Hostomel airport near Kyiv as clashes with the other country continue. While Ukraine has already indicated its intention to rebuild the place, officials had suggested that the restoration of the plane would take more than $3 billion and a long time.

Meanwhile, the UN General Assembly is set to debates a resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of its neighbor. US President Joe Biden will also hold a secure call with allies and partners on Monday to discuss “developments” in Russia’s attack on Ukraine and “coordinate our united response”. The meetings comes less than a day after President Vladimir Putin put forth a nuclear forces alert and western nations heaped sanctions against Russia.
