Chasing a target of 355 runs, Pakistan could only muster up a total of 328 runs in the second innings of the second Test in Multan. Saud Shakeel led the scoring charts for the hosts, scoring 94 runs while Imam-ul-Haq (60), Mohammad Nawaz (45) and Abudllah Shafique (45) also played important knocks. With the 2nd Test defeat, Pakistan have also lost the 3-match Test series 0-2, with one match still to go. For England, Mark Wood was the pick of the bowlers, producing figures of 4/65.
England registered a historic series win in Pakistan after they defeated the hosts by 26 runs in the second test played at Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday. A controversy erupted during the match after Saud Shakeel was adjudged caught behind off Mark Wood’s bowling. Pakistani skipper Babar Azam also responded to the controversial dismissal.
Shakeel, who was well set on 94, seemed to be on the verge of taking the hosts to a famous win before the tragedy struck.

“The Shakeel dismissal cost us,” Babar told reporters after England clinched the series with a match to spare.
“It looked to us as if the ball had touched the ground. As a professional, you have to respect the umpire’s decision, but we felt the ball had been grounded.”
Pope had no ambiguity either about the catch he took to turn the match on its head.
“I didn’t think it had bounced before,” said the 24-year-old.
“As a keeper, when you’ve got the gloves on, you honestly can’t tell. I didn’t think it had touched the ground after. When you have gloves on you feel it go in but that’s it.”
Shakeel was the seventh Pakistani wicket to fall. He scored gritty 94 runs off 213 balls. Shakeel was caught behind the wickets by Ollie Pop off Wood’s bowling. However, it was not clear whether the ball touched the ground before the catch was taken.
England registered, with a match to spare, its first series win in Pakistan since 2000-01 and captain Ben Stokes put the achievement in perspective.
