Using of fresh water for bathing at Lam: DDC member Aripal Manzoor Ganai expresses concern, seeks intervention of concerned authorities

Tral 10 Jun :- Amid flow of visitors at a well-known health resort, Gujjar-Saran in Lam area of Aripal Tral, the District Development Council (DDC) member Aripal Manzoor Ganai expressed concern as a famous water-body flows through the area is being used for the bathing purpose by most of the visitors, who beat the heat by bathing in the waterbody, which usually fulfills the drinking water needs of most of the villages across the Tral sub district.

The DDC appealed the Jal Shakti department to relocate the pipes from the bathing point to upward side so that pure water is being supplied to the people. He also requested intervention of district administration into the matter at the earliest.

He explained that local youngsters have been using the pipeline for bathing, which is making the water dirty. Since the pipeline provides drinking water to around 20 villages, keeping it clean is very important for public health.

In recent days, due to the scorching heat, many locals especially youngsters have been bathing in the open pipeline to cool off. This has further raised concerns about the water being unfit for drinking, putting the health of thousands at risk.

He urged the authorities to take quick action to prevent further contamination and provide safe drinking water to the residents
