UK strain enters Kashmir, two test positive
Srinagar: At least two persons in Srinagar have tested positive for the new strain of coronavirus that was first detected in the United Kingdom in September 2020.
Talking to The Kashmir Walla, the resident medical officer at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial hospital, in Srinagar’s Rainawari, Dr. Bilquees Shah, said, “They are on their way to JLNM hospital, we have not received them so far. But their reports are confirmed. Their families are being isolated. They recently returned from [the] UK.” Dr. Shah added that the duo was “probably tested in New Delhi as the Valley currently lacks the facility to test the new genome”.
So far, at least ninety persons across India have tested positive for the new strain of coronavirus, the Health Ministry said today.
