T20 World Cup 2024 Highlights: Canada Post Historic Win Over Ireland at Nassau
The Associate has struck twice in two days. Group C and D might have been the groups of death leading up to the T20 World Cup 2024 but for the moment the blockbuster results are coming out of Group A. After Pakistan shocked USA in Dallas on Thursday, it was Canada’s turn to stun a Full Member side on Friday as they beat Ireland in New York to record their first-ever T20 World Cup win.
Jeremy Gordon and Dilon Heliger helped Canada to beat Ireland by 12 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Earlier, Camoes from Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva have taken Canada to 137/7 in the first innings before Ireland skipper Paul Stirling won the toss and opted to bat first against Saad Bin Zafar’s Canada.
The Irish batters, however, hardly got anything from the Canadian bowlers and fielders who were on the money throughout the second half of the match. Jeremy Gordon recorded imperious figures of 2/16 while Dilon Heyliger was just as impressive in his four overs with figures of 2/18.
Ireland have now lost both their games in Group A and Canada have won one and lost one against the USA earlier in the tournament.
