STATE Govt in India Hikes VAT on Petrol, Diesel- Know Latest Price Here

Punjab government on Sunday increased VAT on petrol and diesel price. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government hiked petrol prices by 92 paise and diesel by 88 paise for retail customers.

The cost of one litre of petrol in the state will now be 98.65 while diesel prices will be 105.24 per litre in Chandigarh. Since June, the cost of 1 litre of petrol in Chandigarh was 96.20 and diesel was 84.26/litre. With the recent hike, the state hopes to generate an additional 600 crore per annum as revenue.

In Mohali, petrol will now cost ₹ 98.95 per litre, while diesel will cost ₹ 89.25 per litre. In Chandigarh, petrol will cost ₹ 96.20 per litre, while diesel will cost ₹ 84.26 per litre.

This is the second time this year that the prices of fuel have been increased in the state.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said yesterday that oil companies may reduce petrol and diesel prices if international crude oil prices remain stable and the companies have a profitable next quarter.

The Narendra Modi-led government has prevented a rise in oil prices since April 2022, said the BJP leader, adding that the government will ensure that consumers do not face any hardship.
