SDM Announces New Winter Rules For Gulmarg-Tangmarg Road… Check Here
The Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Gulmarg, has issued a set of guidelines for safe and hassle-free travel on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg Road during the upcoming winter season. The key points of the advisory are as follows:
Restrictions on Vehicles
Only 4×4 vehicles and those equipped with anti-skid chains will be permitted on the road between Tangmarg and Gulmarg to minimize accidents and traffic disruptions caused by icy conditions.
Vehicle Capacity Limits
Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) with a seating capacity of no more than 10 seats are allowed on this route to avoid jams and vehicle breakdowns.
Anti-Skid Chain Installations
Only registered vendors will be authorized to install anti-skid chains in designated parking areas. The cost of installation has been fixed at ₹600 per pair.
Parking Regulations
Tour operators and private vehicle owners must park only in designated parking areas, avoiding roadside parking to prevent traffic jams.
Restrictions on Vendors
Vendors selling coats and boots are prohibited from operating on roads to ensure smooth traffic and avoid unnecessary tourist gatherings.
The advisory mandates strict adherence to these rules to ensure the safety of commuters and tourists. It has been circulated to relevant authorities and the media for effective implementation.
