Road Safety Week Concludes in Awantipora with Focus on Safe Driving Practices
Srinagar: The annual Road Safety Week, observed from January 11 to January 17 by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in collaboration with Srinagar Banihal Expressway Limited and RAMKY Infrastructure Limited, concluded in the Chersoo area of Awantipora, Kashmir. The week-long campaign aimed at raising awareness about road safety and reducing accidents through a series of impactful activities. This nationwide initiative emphasized the importance of safe driving practices and responsible behavior on the roads.
According to an official statement, the primary objective of Road Safety Week is to reduce road accidents and fatalities by promoting road safety awareness and encouraging safe driving habits. Various programs and initiatives were organized across India to highlight the crucial role of both drivers and pedestrians in maintaining road safety.
Throughout the week, educational programs, rallies, and workshops were held in multiple states to raise public awareness about traffic rules and the importance of adhering to road safety norms. Additionally, seminars and conferences were conducted, where experts, government officials, and stakeholders discussed key road safety issues and shared strategies to curb accidents.
Traffic police and transport authorities played an essential role in conducting vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with road safety regulations, while also enforcing helmet and seatbelt usage to reduce the risk of serious injuries in road accidents.
