Pulwama encounter: Army soldier and cop critically injured, operation continues


Srinagar, July 07: A army soldier and a cop has been injured in an ongoing encounter between militants and government forces in Gusoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

A senior Police officer told that in ongoing gunfight, one army soldier and a cop recieved bullet wound.

Both of them have been evacuated to nearby hospital for the treatment, the officer added.

Pertinently, 122 militants have been killed so far in the Valley this year.

Earlier, According to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of Police and Army’s 53 RR a cordon-and-search-operation in Gusso.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed to GNS the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
