Police Attach Property Worth ₹14.76 Lakhs and Seize ₹6 Lakhs Cash Under NDPS Act in South Kashmir

In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, Shopian Police attached a double-storey residential house worth ₹14,76,579 lakhs and cash 6 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Farooq Ahmad Koka son of Ghulam Mohammad Koka, resident of Melhura Zainapora. The action was taken under section 68-E read with 68-F(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.

The property attachment is linked to FIR No.36/2024 of Police Station Zainapora and was executed in the presence of duly constituted Police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols.

The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Shopian police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner.

This action reaffirms the commitment of Shopian Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of immovable property, which has been raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Shopian district.
