Pakistan suffered a big setback on Tuesday ahead of their historic Test series against Australia as fast bowler Haris Rauf tested positive for Covid-19. Rauf has been put into isolation as the rest of the team began training in Rawalpindi, which will host the first of the three Tests from Friday, March 4. Rouf will most likely be ruled out of the first Test in Rawalpindi.

Rauf is yet to play a Test for Pakistan but was in the running for selection after the withdrawals of Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf with injuries picked up in the PSL last week.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had called up Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jr to replace those two, but they may be compelled to look at options among their reserve players, which include Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah as cover.

The second Test will be in Karachi from March 12-16 and the third in Lahore from March 21-25.
