No salary to employees without CID verification: Govt

Srinagar, Mar 05:The government on Thursday made the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) verification mandatory for new entrants into government services before releasing their salaries for the month.

The police will also verify the social media accounts of government employees.

According to an order issued by Commissioner Secretary to the Government Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, “security clearance from the CID has been made mandatory for drawing salary and allowances of new entrants into government service”.

During the verification, the employee’s name, his or her parentage, date of birth, address as well as the government post that they hold will be ascertained.

Besides that “mode of recruitment, date of initial appointment, highest educational qualification, mobile number, e-mail address, social media accounts (twitter, facebook, instagram, etc), name of immediate supervisory/controlling officer and his employee ID and mobile phone number” will also be collected.

As per the order, Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Srinagar as well as the Deputy Commissioners and heads of different departments and government undertakings have been asked to carry out the verification process.

“It is a accordingly impressed upon all Administrative Secretaries/Divisional Commissioners/Deputy Commissioners/Heads of the Departments and Managing Directors of all PSUs/Corporations to identify such cases and ensure in the Government Service is paid salary/allowances till verification by the CID,” the order reads.

The order said that some dubious characters have been paid salaries and other allowances, without obtaining their mandatory CID verification.

“It is however, been observed that these instructions are not being adhered to in some Departments/Subordinate offices, as a result of which many individuals with dubious character antecedents and conduct have been paid salaries and allowances, without obtaining their mandatory CID verification,” the order reads.

The officers concerned have been asked to identify such cases and ensure that their verification is completed expeditiously.

“Further, with a view to expedite the verification process, a simplified mechanism has been devised in consultation with the Criminal Investigation Department… may be adopted,” it said.(RK)
