NEET UG Result 2024 BIG Update: Retest Announced for These Candidates on June 23
The committee formed by the National Testing Agency has Thursday told the Supreme Court that 1,563 students, who were given grace marks, will be given option to take re-test on June 23.
This decision is being taken following an uproar over a large number of NEET UG 2024 candidates performing well in the entrance test — 67 secured the perfect score of 720/720. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is today hearing petitions to cancel the NEET UG 2024 exam. These petitions were filed after the declaration of results and challenged the grace marks that were awarded to over 1500 students for loss of exam time.
The four-member committee headed by the former UPSC chairman, in its first few meetings, has discussed offering all 1,563 candidates to either sit for a retest or accept the “non-normalised score” which is what these students had achieved before the addition of grace marks, learned The Indian Express. It is also important to note that the composition hasn’t been disclosed by the government.
On June 4, the Agency released the results for NEET UG 2024 raising concerns over the marking scheme. In the Supreme Court, a fresh writ petition, filed by a batch of students, raised doubts about the sanctity of the examination in the light of allegations of the paper leak and urged the court to cancel it and to direct NTA to hold it again.
