Monkeys run away with COVID-19 test samples, locals fear spread of infection

Meerut:A troop of monkeys attacked a laboratory technician carrying COVID-19 test samples of patients on the Meerut Medical College premises. They snatched and ran away with test samples pertaining to three patients.

Later one of the monkeys was found atop a tree chewing the sample collection kits.Samples from the patient’s had to be taken again.

Although the menace of monkeys in the area is a recurrent phenomenon the locals now fear further spread of infection with these collection kits being carried away to nearby residential areas by the monkeys.
