Mohammad Haris To Lead As Pakistan Announced Squard For Emerging Asia Cup 2023- Check Full Squard And Injury Updates
Pakistan Cricket Board announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka between July 14 to 23. Mohammad Haris, a wicketkeeper batsman will lead the side, who has represented Pakistan at senior level in five ODIs and nine T20Is. Other full internationals in the team include Arshad Iqbal, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shahnawaz Dahini, and Tayyab Tahir.
Yousuf has not played international cricket as yet. However, he has great numbers in first-class cricket and domestic T20s. In 40 first-class games, the right-hander has scored 2687 runs at an average of 43.33. In T20s, Yousuf has scored 290 runs in 10 innings at an average of 41.42 and a strike rate of 145. He was Pakistan A’s highest run scorer in the recent series against Zimbabwe A, scoring 275 runs in four matches.
This year’s tournament will be the fifth edition of the EAC and the first since 2019. It features ‘A’ teams from the five full members of the Asia Cricket Council (Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan), as well as Nepal, Oman and the UAE. Pakistan are the current reigning champions going into the Emerging Asia Cup, which will be hosted in Sri Lanka.
The tournament will begin on July 12 in Colombo and will go until July 21. For the first round of the event, the teams are divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semi-finals before the final and third-place play-off. Omair Yousuf, who is a talented 24-year-old batsman, has been named as Haris’ deputy.
There has been no injury news from the squad as of yet, and all players are anticipated to be healthy to participate.
