Militants killed in south Kashmir area of Anantnag identified

Anantnag, (KN): Two militants were killed in an overnight gunfight at Semthan Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

The slain militants were identified as Towseef Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Takia Maqbool Shah Bijbehara and Aamir Hussain Ganie son of Ab Rashid resident of Goriwan Bijbehara, Anantnag. While as Towseef was active since 2017 and Aamir had joined militant ranks in the year 2018.

“The duo was responsible for the killing of Army jawan and were neutralized within two days,” IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

Earlier a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area. The operation, officials said, was suspended yesterday.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight.(KN)
