Match Fixing: IPL Final 2022 Was Fixed Between Gujrat Titans And Rajasthan Royals, Fans On Twitter Go Berserk, Here’s The Full Story
Cricket fans alleged spot-fixing in the IPL 2022 final after Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans lifted their maiden title on Sunday (May 29). The Titans outsmarted Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in front of a raucous home crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The final was attended by a lot of dignitaries including India’s home minister Amit Shah who also happens to be the father of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. This is the reason why social media is buzzing with the word ‘fixing’ at the moment. Twitter feels that the game was politically fixed with Amit Shah and Narendra Modi belonging to the state. Titans played some excellent and consistent cricket throughout the season. Perhaps, they were the best team this season winning 10 out of 14 matches in the league stage and then backing it with a stunning show in both playoff games including the final. Many users have connected Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah and BCCI secretary Jay Shah hail from the state of Gujarat gave the benefit to the new IPL franchise to win the title.
Fans alleged that the final of the Indian T20 League 2022 between Gujarat and Rajasthan was ‘fixed’ in the favor of Gujarat. This bunch reasoned that the presence of Indian home minister Amit Shah and the game played in Ahmedabad. Notably, the venue of the final was decided early this month when nobody knew that Gujarat will make it to the final.
Fans also pointed out the lack of excitement after winning the title from skipper Hardik Pandya and BCCI secretary Jay Shah’s celebrations after Gujarat’s win point to ‘fixing’. They feel that at least Shah could have been neutral on the matter because he is a BCCI official. Talking about the game, Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a decent start as they were 60/1 at one stage.
However, the wicket of skipper Sanju Samson bought a collapse in the team as they could only muster 130/9. In reply, the team was tottering at 23/2 but chased down the total with seven wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare. With this, they won their maiden title in their debut season. Meanwhile, little do the reader who that the team was about to be barred from playing the tournament in January this year.
At that time, the team owners were under pressure after their association with a betting company in UK. The BCCI delayed the contract between the contract between the franchise and themselves. After a while, the team got an NOC to play in the 15th season.
