JK Govt Increases Pensions for Elderly, Widows, Disabled & Transgender Beneficiaries to Get Up to Rs 2,000 Monthly

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a new order enhancing the pension rates under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS). The enhancement is effective from April 1, 2025, following the approval of the Council of Ministers and the concurrence of the Finance Department.

The new structure of pension enhancement is as follows:

  • Beneficiaries under 60 years will receive Rs. 1,250 per month.
  • Beneficiaries between 60 to 79 years will receive Rs. 1,500 per month.
  • Beneficiaries aged 80 years and above will receive Rs. 2,000 per month.

This increase applies to pensions for Old Age, Widow, Disability, and Transgender individuals, under the NSAP and ISSS schemes. The enhanced pension will be provided to approved beneficiaries as per the guidelines set by the Ministry of Rural Development and the rules laid out by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

Additionally, the pension payment for beneficiaries will be adjusted according to their age group, starting from the month they reach the next age bracket. For instance, once a beneficiary turns 60 or 80, they will begin receiving the enhanced pension corresponding to their new age category from the following month.

This initiative aims to provide better financial support to senior citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities, improving their quality of life in Jammu and Kashmir.
