J&K Government Reconstitutes Board of Directors for Road Transport Corporation

Srinagar, February 12, 2025 – The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a fresh order for the reconstitution of the Board of Directors of the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC). The decision, made through Government Order No.: 205-JK(GAD) of 2025, supersedes all previous directives regarding the board’s structure.

According to the order, the Hon’ble Minister In-Charge, Transport Department, will serve as the Chairman of the board, while the Administrative Secretary, Finance Department, has been designated as the Vice Chairman. Other key appointments include:

  • Administrative Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department – Director
  • Administrative Secretary, Transport Department – Director
  • Administrative Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department – Director
  • Managing Director, JKRTC – Director/Member Secretary
  • Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department, Kashmir – Director
  • Shri Tapan Kumar Das, Under Secretary, Government of India (Representative, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways) – Director

The reconstitution aims to enhance governance and efficiency within the JKRTC by incorporating officials from various crucial departments.

This move is expected to bring about structural improvements and better coordination in the transportation sector across Jammu and Kashmir.
