Jammu and Kashmir Government Approves Additional Free Ration, Issues New Order || Check Here

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued an order to provide additional food grains free of cost to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households. This decision, based on the Council of Ministers’ meeting held on March 27, 2025, aims to enhance the monthly food supply for AAY beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Key Highlights of the Initiative:

  1. Eligibility: Only AAY households registered under the Public Distribution System are eligible for this benefit.
  2. Allocation Rules: The total food grain allocation per beneficiary under all schemes, including NFSA, must not exceed 10 kg.
  3. Additional Food Grains Distribution:
    • Households with up to 3 members will receive no extra allocation.
    • Households with 4 members will receive 5 kg extra.
    • Households with 5 or more members will get additional allocations ranging from 15 kg to 65 kg, depending on the household size.

Financial and Distribution Arrangements:

  • Rice will be distributed based on availability under the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic).
  • The Finance Department is authorized to provide additional budgetary support, which will be managed through the Revolving Fund (Foodgrains) Accounts.
  • Both Directors of the concerned department will oversee financial requirements through the Revolving Fund mechanism.

Furthermore, the government will explore the possibility of distributing wheat and wheat flour in the future, subject to approval from the competent authorities.

This order, issued by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Zubair Ahmad, will be implemented across Jammu and Kashmir, benefiting thousands of AAY households.
