Intresting Story: 14 years after he applied, J-K man gets Class-IV job just 2 years before retirement age
Ishar Dass will retire after serving Agriculture Dept only for 2.5 years
A 57-year-old man was selected as a Class-IV employee with the Udhampur district administration on Tuesday.
The selected candidate, Ishar Dass, will retire after serving the Agriculture Department for only two-and-a-half years, provided the authorities fulfil all formalities within a month.
Casual approach of authorities
Due to the casual approach of the authorities, it took over 14 years to complete the selection process. The man will be deprived of many retirement benefits.

Hoping to serve the department for 18 years, Dass was 42 when he had applied for the post, but it took the authorities over 14 years to complete the selection process.
Figured in serial number 51 of the Class-IV employees’ selection list, Dass’ date of birth, as per the official record, is April 24, 1963, which means he will retire on April 30, 2023.

The delay in releasing the selection list indicates the casual approach of the district administration in finalising the candidates for the posts that are advertised from time-to-time.

The authorities claimed that due to legal petitions the selection process was delayed, but many candidates alleged that recruiting agencies adopted a casual approach in dealing with the petitions.

Notably, all selected candidates had applied for the post of Class-IV employees in response to the advertisement notice No. 01 of 2006 dated March 20, 2006.
Earlier, the authorities had already issued a notification for conducting a physical test for the post of Forester, which was advertised in 2004. After an inordinate 16-year-long delay, many candidates who had applied for the same post have now crossed the age of 50, but they will have to appear for a physical test likely to be held in October this year.
