Inspector Suspended for Neglecting Duty in J-K

Jammu, March 29: The Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, has suspended a Khilafwarzi Inspector for failing to report unauthorized construction in the district.

The action was taken after the army raised concerns about violations of the Works of Defence Act (WODA) in the area. Following these complaints, the assistant commissioner (revenue) and tehsildar were assigned to inspect the site and prepare a detailed report.

The inspection revealed that the construction had exceeded the permitted limits and that a residential area had been converted into commercial space without authorization. The inspector, responsible for monitoring such violations, failed to take action or report the matter, leading to his immediate suspension.

Additionally, the executive officer of the municipal council has been given three days to provide an explanation and initiate legal proceedings against the violations. The district statistics and evaluation officer has been appointed as the inquiry officer and must submit a detailed report within 30 days.

The district administration has reaffirmed its commitment to strictly enforcing building regulations and ensuring accountability among officials.
