India reports biggest ever spike of Covid-19 cases and highest single day death
India, April 28.(KN): Amidst the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, India reported 3.79 lakh fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.
As per available data from covid19india.org, an independent aggregator of daily COVID-19 figures, India reports 3,79,164 new Covid cases and 3,646 new deaths during 24 hours.
The alarming numbers of single-day cases as well as the fatalities smashed all previous record of coronavirus cases in India since the disease struck the country in January last year.
Maharashtra continues to remain the worst affected state in India . Maharashtra reported 63,309 infections on April 28, followed by Karnataka with 39,047 new infections and Delhi with 25,986 new cases.
For the past seven days, India has been witnessing a daily surge of over 3 lakh cases.
Further, Centre has said 1 lakh portable oxygen concentrators would be procured from PM CARES Fund on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction to procure them at the earliest and provide to states with high case burden.(KN)
