Hizb Regrouping, PLanning Major Strikes Across Jammu Kashmir


Srinagar: Day after suffering major blows in the Kashmir valley, including the killing of their commander, Riyaz Naikoo, the Hizb ul Mujahideen, intelligence agencies, say are regrouping and planning to strike back within 10 days. The agencies have inputs that the Hizb will be carrying out multiple terror strikes across the valley.

Agencies, as per a report published, across Indian media, have inputs that Hizb is planning to carry out large-scale attacks with Government security forces on target. The agencies said as the weakened Hizbul regroups, its main targets will not just be the security forces deployed in the valley at various places.

Riyaz Naikoo, the divisional commander of Hizb ul Mujahideen, was killed early this month during a gunbattle, minutes away from his home. The Militant group plans to avenge Naikoo`s death, Intelligence agencies say.

A group of Hizbul Mujahideen from South Kashmir has reportedly reached Kishtwar. The intel said Hizbul militant Ahraf Moulvi has moved from Islamabad (Anantnag) to Kishtwar to command the Hizbul cadres in the Chenab Valley.

“Possibility of managed hostage situation cannot be ruled out,” Intelligence Bureau has alerted.

Naikoo, an HM leader, was eliminated by security forces on May 6. He was killed during an anti-Militancy operation conducted by the Army and Jammu Kashmir Police in the Beighpora area of Pulwama district. The 35-year-old carried a bounty of Rs 12.5 lakh on his head and was a key target for India once he took charge of the Hizbul Mujahideen in Kashmir.

Five Hizbul militants have been spotted near Gurez and they are likely to attempt to enter into Jammu Kashmir very soon, according to Intelligence Intelligence Bureau has also alerted that Pakistan has planned to carry out attacks at various Indian Army posts on the Line of Control by their Battle Action Teams, Two groups of Militants in the Krishna Ghati and Naushera sectors are likely to strike posts in the area, the agencies have warned.(Agencie)
