Two home guards were killed and about a dozen policemen injured as a mob in Haryana’s Nuh district tried to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, pelting stones and setting cars on fire, police said.
As news of the violence in Muslim-dominated Nuh spreads, mobs in adjoining Gurugram district’s Sohna set ablaze four vehicles and a shop, apparently belonging to people from that community.
Protesters blocked a road for hours.Police said the vehicles set ablaze were part of the procession, or belonged to them.
Mobile internet services have been suspended temporarily in Nuh district till August 2.

Internet suspended in Haryana’s Nuh till August 2
In Haryana’s Nuh, mobile internet services were suspended till Wednesday to contain the “intense communal tension”, the Haryana government said. “…This order is issued to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of district Nuh and shall be in force with effect from 4 pm, July 31 to 23:59 hours of August 2,” Additional Chief Secretary (Home) T V S N Prasad said.

Why was the violence triggered?
According to the reports, the clashes were triggered after Bajrang Dal activist Monu Manesar, a cow vigilante who is accused of lynching two Muslim men, and his associates had circulated an objectionable video a few days ago and were supposed to join the procession.

The opposition Congress and INLD on Monday targeted the BJP-JJP government in Haryana over the Nuh violence, alleging that the ruling combine has failed on the law and order front, reported news agency PTI.
Nuh’s cyber police station ransacked, police post torched
The miscreants who attacked the procession also ransacked Nuh’s cyber police station and torched a police post at Edward Chowk, roughly 50km from Gurugram. In retaliation, the police fired several rounds of tear gas shells to disperse protesters.
Deputy SP (Hodal) shot in head during violence
Sajjan Dalal, deputy superintendent of police (Hodal), was shot in the head and was in a critical condition, said a senior police officer. “He is undergoing treatment at Medanta hospital with inspector Anil Kumar of Gurugram police who has also sustained a bullet injury in his abdomen,” he said.
Section 144 imposed in 7 districts
The Haryana government has imposed section 144 in seven districts of the state in view of the violence.
Educational institutions will remain closed in Gurugram district on August 1.
Clashes in Haryana’s Nuh region
Two home guards were killed and around a dozen policemen injured during a clash between two groups in the Nuh district. The deceased, identified as Neeraj and Gursevak, were deployed at Khedali Daula police station. The injured officers were taken to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.
The conflict erupted when the mob attacked police teams en route from Gurugram to Mewat. The authorities are likely to investigate the incident to understand its cause and address any underlying issues.
Mobile services suspended till August 2
Nuh Deputy Commissioner appealed to all to maintain peace and informed that all stranded people have been rescued. As a precautionary measure, mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in Nuh district.
Nuh Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar said on Modnday evening, “Police are investigating the matter. Internet services have been suspended for 3 days. Section 144 has been imposed in the district. Curfew orders have been given…We appeal to all to maintain peace. All stranded people have been rescued… 1 casualty has been reported. The situation is normal now and curfew has been imposed in the district…”.
In an official notification regarding internet suspension, the Haryana Government said that the step has been taken to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through social media platforms.
“In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS, for facilitation and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities, Home Secretary, Haryana do order the suspension of the mobile internet services and all dongle services etc. provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in the territorial jurisdiction of district Nuh of Haryana State,” the order said.
