Govt Launches Online RTI Portal to Enhance Transparency and Efficiency In J&K
The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has launched an online RTI (Right to Information) Portal accessible at https://rtionline.jk.gov.in. This portal aims to enhance the efficiency of processing and responding to RTI applications across various departments in the Union Territory.
Key features of the RTI Portal include:
- Maintaining a comprehensive database of all RTI applications and appeals
- Facilitating swift processing of applications by Central Public Information Officers (CPIOs) and First Appellate Authorities (FAAs)
- Allowing citizens to submit RTI requests, check their status, and receive responses electronically without the need to visit government offices **
The portal is expected to become fully operational by December 10, 2024, contributing to greater transparency, accountability, and effective governance in Jammu & Kashmir.
Onboarding of Nodal Officers and CPIOs/FAAs
To ensure the smooth functioning of the RTI Portal, the following steps are being taken:
- Nodal Officers at Administrative Department Level: Nodal Officers have been nominated by all departments to oversee the onboarding of CPIOs and FAAs on the portal. Their accounts have been created, and they have been provided with the necessary login credentials.
- Nodal Officers at Directorate Level: For departments with a large number of CPIOs and FAAs, Nodal Officers have also been nominated at the Directorate level. Their accounts have been created, and they have been provided with login credentials.
- Nodal Officers at District Level: Nodal Officers may also be nominated at the District level (Deputy Commissioner Offices) to oversee the smooth operationalization of the portal across all districts.
The Nodal Officers have been instructed to onboard all CPIOs and FAAs on the RTI Portal by November 29, 2024, and provide the necessary user ID credentials to them.
