DM cites public health, safety concerns; directs police for strict enforcement
District Magistrate Kupwara Ayushi Sudan on Friday imposed a complete ban on the sale and use of firecrackers across the district on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, citing concerns over public health, air pollution, and public safety.
As per the official order a copy, the district administration observed that the use of firecrackers during festive occasions leads to significant noise and air pollution, causing harm to health and property, and creating public discomfort. “In the interest of public safety, it has become imperative to restrict the use and sale of firecrackers,” the order reads.
