COVID-19: India records world’s highest single-day spike

Srinagar, (KN): India registered its highest single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic.
As many as 3,45,000 new COVID19 cases and 2620 deaths reported during 24hrs.

Maharashtra reported 66,836 infections on April 23, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 36,605 new infections and Delhi with 24,331 new cases.

Also, Kerala reported 28,447 new infections on April 23 and Karnataka 26,962.

The data is sourced from covid19india.org, an independent aggregator of daily COVID-19 figures.

During the peak of the first wave, India’s daily case tally did not cross the 1 lakh mark. On September 16, 2020, the country recorded 97,860 new infections, the highest single-day rise for the first wave.(KN)
