Boys lag behind again; Toppers thank teachers, parents; say was difficult to remain focussed on studies amid pandemic

 Srinagar, Feb 08: In the annual regular results of 12th standard for Kashmir division, female students did not give any space to the male candidates to secure the top positions in all four major streams.

The news agency Kashmir News Observer KNO spoke to some of the students who bagged the top positions in the exams.

One of the toppers, Arusa Parvaiz bagged the top position from the Faculty of Science.

Arusa, the student of Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute Naseem Bagh has secured 99.8 percent marks in the exams.

She says that the guidance of her teachers and support of parents make her successful in achieving the feat.

“I consider myself very lucky in terms of having the right guide and mentor because nothing would have been possible if I would not have been guided at the right time by my teachers,”, Arusa said.

She further said that the online mode of education had made it a bit tough for the students to prepare for the exams.

Arusa said, “In the aftermath of COVID-19, it has become very important to the students to focus more on their studies. Earlier, there might have been a scope of leniency in terms of self-studying, but this time the situation was entirely different as the students had to go through a very tough phase.”

The topper dedicated her success to her parents and teachers. “They have unconditionally supported me.”

Likewise, another topper from Faculty of Commerce, Tabinda Jan had secured 99.4 percent marks.

She said that the hard-work and dedication let her achieve the huge success she has been dreaming of.

“I always wanted to do something extraordinary and choosing the commerce stream had always remained my priority,” Jan said.

Inspired by her father who is a chartered accountant by profession, Tabinda further said that she would pursue her career in commerce only.

Besides, Science and Commerce streams, the top position from Faculty of Arts were also bagged by the female candidates.

From the Faculty of Arts, Adeebah Muzamil, a student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh bagged the first position in the stream by securing 99.2 percent marks followed by Sahila Nabi of Faculty of Home Science from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh.

Sahila secured the first position from Faculty of Home Science by securing 99 percent marks.
