BIG Controversy: I Will Not Hoist Or Salute The Tricolor As Per Religious Belief, Is Not Allowed: School Headmistress
During celebrations for Independence Day, A state government school headmistress had refused to hoist and salute the tricolour on Independence Day.
The headmistress allegedly declined to salute the flag, stating that she is a Christian and that it is against her religion for her to do so. The Chief Education Officer has launched a probe as the issue has picked up steam.
In a video recording justifying her act, she said that being a Yahova Christian, her religious belief allows her to salute only God.
She, however, added that she does not disrespect the flag and said that she had arranged for the Assistant Headmistress to hoist the flag.
Subsequently, a formal complaint was handed over to Dharmapuri’s chief education officer (CEO) and brought to light the incident wherein the top-most officer of a government-run school denied hoisting the flag on the occasion of independence day.
In the complaint, it has been mentioned that the headmistress, in concern, took leave during the preceding independence day celebrations. And that she did it over the years on the pretext of sick leave
