Babar Azam Surpasses Virat Kohli To Create Incredible Record During Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 1st Test
Pakistan captain Babar Azam broke yet another record of Virat Kohli en route to his brilliant century in the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium in Galle. Babar became the fastest Asian batter to complete the milestone of 10,000 runs in international cricket surpassing Kohli to the elusive feat.
Babar took just 228 innings to reach the mark in international cricket. Although, he is just behind some big names like Viv Richards, Hashim Amla, Brian Lara, and Joe Root. He surpasses Virat Kohl by 4 innings, who reached the mark in 232 innings.
Now the captain of Pakistan in all formats of the game, Babar has been a consistent run-scoring machine in red and white ball cricket both, and broke Pakistan’s record for the fastest player to reach that landmark in their cricketing history.
Fastest Asian batters to reach 10000 runs in international cricket (in terms of innings)
- Babar Azam – 228
- Virat Kohli – 232
- Sunil Gavaskar – 243
- Javed Miandad – 248
- Sourav Ganguly – 253

Babar Azam Registers Yet Another Century
The century came in at a time when Pakistan was struggling in response to Srilankaโs 222. Pakistan was reduced to 85-7 at one point but Babar put together important partnerships with Hasan Ali and Yasir Shah and brought Pakistan closer to Sri Lankaโs first innings score.
Pakistan lost their 9th wicket on 148 and it looked like Sri Lanka will take a substantial lead but Naseem Shah supported Babar well and Pakistan came very close to Srilankaโs total.
Babar scored a brilliant 119 as Pakistan scored 218 in their first innings against Sri Lanak, who were earlier skittled out on 222 on Day 1.
This is how Twitter reacted:
Forget fab 4.. make it fab 5.. @babarazam258 right up there. While rest of Pak batting struggles, he seems in a league of his own. May even be the best all round batsman in the world at the moment given his ODI/T 20 form. And saying that doesnโt make you anti national!๐
