Awantipora Police Solve Tral Hit-and-Run Case in Which 5-Year-Old Child Lost His Life; Accused Arrested and Vehicle Seized.

Awantipora, October 24, 2025:
Awantipora Police have solved a hit-and-run case by arresting the accused person involved in the incident and seizing the vehicle used in the commission of the crime.

On 10 october.2025, Police Station Tral received information about a road accident at Hardumir Tral, wherein an unknown vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian, Ariz (aged about 5 years) S/O Ab Gaffar Bhat R/O Hardumir Tral. The injured child was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment and was later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 126/2025 under sections 281 and 106 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Tral, and investigation was initiated.

Acting promptly, a police team led by SHO Police Station Tral, Inspector Abdul Rashid, under the supervision of SDPO Tral, Shri Rajesh Kumar, launched a sustained investigation to trace the unknown driver.

During the investigation, police took assistance of modern techniques, including analysis of CCTV footage from various locations across the Tral area. Through meticulous examination, the team successfully zeroed in on a suspected vehicle. Several suspects were questioned, and after hectic efforts, the accused driver was identified and arrested.

He has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Mir S/O Habibullah Mir R/O Amlar Nowpora A/P Naibugh Tral. The accused has been taken into custody, and the vehicle involved in the accident — an Alto 800 bearing registration number JK13G-6873 — has been seized.
