All First-year College Students & 2000 Tribal School Students to be Given Tablets in Jammu & Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar said on Sunday that nearly 75,000 first-year students of various undergraduate courses in Jammu and Kashmir will be handed tablets by the Higher Education Department. In addition to it, the School Education Department would provide tablets to another 2000 tribal community students in schools of the J&K region, the minister further stated.

The union minister made the statement on Sunday after wrapping off a five-day tour to Kashmir. He was on a tour to the valley as part of the Union government’s public outreach programme. The minister visited various educational institutions and held elaborate deliberations with officials and stakeholders during his tour.

Sarkar said, “Jammu and Kashmir education department will work in mission mode to upgrade all schools so that they become much better than the private schools”. He added that 2000 kindergarten classrooms had been established in the government schools of the union territory.
