Afro-Asia cup: Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, Shaheen Afridi, And Jasprit Bumrah To Play Together On The Same Side & Same Team

Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has hinted that they are going to restart the Afro Asia cup in 2023 in T20 format.

The tournament which may take place in June-July next year is waiting for the final approval from other respective individual cricket boards.

The event will be discussed in detail at the next month’s ICC Annual General Meeting and a final call will be taken there.

“We plan to include the best players from both countries. Once everything is finalized, we will go into the market for sponsorship and a broadcaster. It will be a massive event. Really, really big,” ACC head of commercial and events Prabhakaran Thanraj told Forbes.

The Afro-Asian Cup, which will be held in 2023, may see Virat Kohli, Shaheen Afridi, Jasprit Bumrah, and Babar Azam play together on the same side. Players from Asian and African countries compete against one another in this tournament.

Afro-Asia cup was held in 2005 and 2007 before being cancelled owing to political and broadcasting concerns. The competition, on the other hand, is anticipated to see daylight once more.

The competition will be resurrected in a T20 format, according to the organisers. It will most likely be performed in June and July of the following year.

India and Pakistan do not play in bilateral series due to political tension. Even Pakistan players are not allowed to feature in the Indian Premier League.
