Abida’s little kids unaware of their mother’s death, say ‘Mummy has gone to Srinagar to buy winter clothes for us’

Srinagar, Nov 12 : A dingy lane leads to the house of Abida lovingly called Sumaiya at home in Naidkhai area of Sumbal in Bandipora district paints a grim picture. Every eye is moist and every soul in a deep shock.

What brings tears in the eyes of everyone here is the three kids, a six year old daughter, a seven year old her first brother and the little one, a five year-old- boy.

On November 3, Abida had visited weekly Sunday market Srinagar to buy winter clothes for her children but little did she knew that she would return home dead. She was seriously wounded in the grenade explosion and lost her battle with life at SMHS hospital this afternoon.

These siblings are unaware of their mother’s death. “Why are so many people coming to our house,” the eldest one asks his uncle, who tries to console them.

As the villagers gather in large numbers outside the residence of Abida, the eldest kid says, “My mummy has gone to the Sunday market to buy clothes for me and my younger brother and sister. She promised me a blue colour jacket and long boots for winter. ”

The village women hug the three siblings repeatedly amid cries and sobs but little did these kids know that their mother is no more.

As the villagers flooded the house of slain Abida,  the relatives of these ill fated kids were taken far from their single storey house so that they stayed away from the shock of seeing their mother dead.

“These kids are too small to understand the meaning of death,” a wailing woman told news agency KINS, amid beating her chest.

Three Lashkar-e-Toiba associates have already been arrested for being involved in the attack. (KINS)
